COMMON GOOD

About the project:

The pandemic, the war in Ukraine and other social unrest and challenges in our societies have shown that the common good is constantly under threat. Respect for the individual, social well-being and the development of the group, peace and security are no longer general concepts.

In our "Common Good" project, three NGOs from Austria, Italy and Germany investigated what civil society and NGOs in particular can do to restore cohesion and unprejudiced communication within society in order to protect democratic principles and values. We focused on solutions for emotional well-being and balance at the community level, as this area is the least researched but has the greatest impact and because very few workable solutions have been developed so far.

The partners examined and described best practices in community building in each country and organized some events themselves. As a result, the partners have compiled solutions and best practices in an accessible, free e-book "Community Compass - A Guide to Neighbourhood Initiatives", developed interactive micro e-learning lectures for dissemination purposes - how NGOs and local citizens organize neighbourhood events at local level.

Let's look forward to this promising future together!

End of project

The official Common Good project came to an end in October 2024 - but we hope that the spirit lives on! 🌟

May everything we have worked on together bear fruit in many neighborhoods. We hope that the ideas, cohesion and good relationships that have emerged from this project will continue to grow and bring about many more positive changes in the communities.

Let's continue to actively stand up for the common good and forge strong connections in our neighborhoods! 🤝🌱

Project results

We achieved several impressive results with the project:

  • Survey: We asked residents in three countries what makes a good neighborhood. Their findings are summarized in our report.

  • Guide: Our guide will help you organize community events that promote togetherness, be it large celebrations or smaller gatherings.

  • Our e-book includes a definition of the 'common good', inspiring good actions, recommendations for NGOs and interactive e-learning units. The e-book is available free of charge in three languages: English, German and Italian

What now? Looking to the future:

Our discussions and work have shown how important the common good is. If we strengthen cohesion in our neighborhood, we can deal with challenges better together. We are motivated to continue our work and are planning a larger project to make an even greater impact.

We invite you to continue this journey togther - stay tuned for news on our next steps!
